How does Dumb Phone work?
In-short; Dumb Phone removes all addictive elements from the Home Screen, such as colors, wallpapers, app icons, and replaces them with a simple list of your most essential apps.
After following the Set Up Guide to adjust specific iOS settings, you can then select your most essential apps.
After selecting them and adding the Page widget to the Home Screen, you instead launch apps via a simple list of text labels, representing individual apps.

Why are there so many initial steps?
Unfortunately due to iOS privacy limitations, non-system apps like Dumb Phone aren’t allowed to automatically adjust the Home Screen, apply wallpapers, or adjust any system settings.
This is a restriction imposed by Apple, thus why some initial steps are required.
After things have been set up Dumb Phone handles things from there, including further locking down your phone if necessary, while retaining it's level of utility.
